Welcome to the MIT Sloan’s Veterans Association
Mission / Expectations
The mission of the Sloan Veterans Association is threefold. First, the SVA exists to enable and assist U.S. and allied nation Veterans in the transition from honorable military service to fulfilling, impactful, and rewarding civilian careers. Second, the SVA catalyzes the development and success of those individuals who continue serving both in the U.S. and allied nation militaries. Third, the SVA strives to generate awareness and support for the military within the Sloan, greater MIT, and Cambridge communities.
The goal of the Veterans Association is to:
- Provide prospective US and allied nation veteran students with assistance applying to MIT Sloan
- Provide current veteran students with career development, networking opportunities, job search assistance and community support to veterans and their families
- Maintain contact with the extensive MIT veterans alumni network throughout the world
- Raise awareness and support for the military across the MIT campus
MIT’s history is intertwined with the military’s. From the first day of classes in 1865, military training has existed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduates continue to serve to this day. The institute has also more broadly supported the military. From the development of computers, radar, and inertial guidance during World War II, to the creation of air defense systems and the internet in modern times, MIT students and professors have been at the forefront of new technology. The MIT Sloan Veterans Association encompasses and welcomes military veterans of all services from all countries. Building on the strong foundation of leadership veterans develop in the military, we hope to work together as a team to propel veterans to new heights in their business careers.
